Leadership
Grace Church is a presbyterian church. The word presbyterian describes how the church is governed. Our church is led by men called elders (also known as presbyters). The pastor (also called a teaching elder or minister) together with ruling elders from the congregation make up the governing body of the local church, which is called the session. The pastor and ruling elders are elected by the members and work together to give spiritual direction based on the Word of God. We also have deacons who are responsible for meeting the physical needs of those of the church who may be in need.
Our pastor, Matthew Cotta, earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Covenant College and a Masters of Divinity from Westminster Seminary California. Prior to coming to Grace Presbyterian Church, Matthew taught Bible in Hudsonville, Michigan at Zion Christian School. Matthew and his wife, Lois, have four young children, Rachel, Lilia, Luke, and Katherine. Lois is the daughter of missionaries who have served for many years in Peru.
