We are Presbyterian in Government
The word 'presbyterian' describes how the church is governed. It is led by men
called 'elders' (or 'presbyters,' as they were called in the Greek spoken in Jesus'
day hence the word, 'presbyter-ian'). As Presbyterians, we have church
government that is ruled by elders. The pastor, who is a teaching elder, together
with ruling elders, elected by the congregation work together to give spiritual
direction based on the Word of God. The church elders also have the
responsibility to discipline members who go astray.
We are part of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church
We are also members of a national body of churches known as the Orthodox
Presbyterian Church , which consists of over two hundred congregations in
fourteen presbyteries located throughout the United States and Canada.
We are part of the Presbytery of the Midwest
Our congregation is part of a regional body of churches, known as the
Presbytery of the Midwest , which consists of churches in Michigan's Upper
Peninsula, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa [except Lyon, Sioux, Osceola, & O’Brien
counties], and Missouri [except Cass, Clay, Jackson, & Platte counties]
