New Here?

Grace Presbyterian Church is a Bible-believing congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in the Chicago suburb of Hanover Park. We are a church that seeks to glorify God by preaching and practicing the whole Word of God and its message of salvation through Christ alone in the context of a loving, prayerful, and supportive body of believers. We are a multi-generational church that delights in ministering to all. As the Lord takes sons and daughters of our congregation away to labor in other fields, he remains faithful in bringing new sons and daughters to Grace Church each year. Psalm 78:1-7.

We invite you to visit us this coming Sunday, and find out about Grace Church first-hand. Come worship the Lord with us, and learn more about Christ and His will for our lives.

FAQ

WHAT TYPE OF CHURCH ARE WE?

We are a congregation of Reformed believers which seek to glorify God and make Christ known. We invite you to join us in our walk along the Way, learning more about Christ and His will for our lives.

WHAT TIME DOES WORSHIP BEGIN?

We have two worship services each Sunday. They are not repeats of one another, but rather gives us opportunity to both open and close the Lord’s Day in worship, each with a unique message from God’s word.

Sunday morning worship begins at 10:45 AM. We also have a Sunday evening worship service beginning at 5:00 PM–that is, on most Sundays. On the third Sunday of every month rather than have an evening worship service we have an afternoon worship service. That once-a-month afternoon service starts at approximately 1:30 PM. The time is approximate because it generally starts after we finish our monthly fellowship dinner.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We encourage people to come as they are and dress in what feels most comfortable, you will find some of us dressed in ties, sportscoats and dresses and others dressed in casual attire. Since worship is God’s people joining together in His presence, we seek to show a reverence and respect of our great God and King even in our dress.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

When you arrive you can expect to be greeted with warm smiles and an open door. Services begin promptly and the bulletin provides you with direction.

HOW LONG IS A WORSHIP SERVICE?

Our worship services typically last about an hour. On the first Sunday of the month we share in partaking of the Lord’s Supper during the morning worship service. Those services go about 15 minutes longer.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN WORSHIP?

In the OPC’s Directory for Public Worship, there is a chapter called “The Principles of Public Worship” which is an excellent summary of what we aim for in our worship services.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

We encourage children to join with the adults in our Worship services. Though they may not understand all that goes on, they learn by being there with us. We understand there is a little noise that comes with having the children join in worship. We recognize that even our young children are part of God’s people, so let the little children come to Jesus alongside with us. We do have a nursery for the very youngest newborns and toddlers. The service is shown there through video, so if you need to take a child there you can still track with the worship service.
