Judgment on Tyre and Sidon
Isaiah 23:1-18
Introduction: The LORD brings down Tyre and Sidon for their pride and sin as a lesson for His people.
Summary Principle: Repent with contrite hearts.
For the Children: Turn from sin and trust in God to save you.
1) The LORD purposed Tyre’s Destruction (vv. 1-12)
God opposes the proud (James 4:6).
- Comfort: God will oppose us in sin.
- Charge: Take God’s Word seriously and humbly obey.
2) The LORD will visit Tyre (vv. 13-18)
God redeems sinners (cf. Titus 2:14).
- Comfort: God is merciful to us.
- Charge: Trust in Christ for salvation.
Christocentric conclusion: Jesus Christ came to redeem us from our sin and wash us in His blood so that we may be found acceptable in God’s sight. There is no other hope for man.
