God’s Way Stands
Luke 16:14-18
Introduction: Jesus makes it clear that God’s way stands; it is not made void by the whims, preferences, and sins of man.
Summary Principle: God’s way is the good way.
For Children: Rejoice in God’s plan.
1) Things God Exalts (vv. 14-15)
God prizes godliness (cf. Philippians 4:8-9).
- Comfort: God will not take a bribe (Deuteronomy 10:17).
- Charge: Nurture heavenly-mindedness (Colossians 3:1-2).
2) God’s Immutability (vv. 16-18)
God is not a man that He should change (cf. I Samuel 15:29).
- Comfort: Because God does not change, we are saved (cf. Malachi 3:6).
- Charge: Rejoice and ask God for grace to obey.
Christocentric conclusion: Jesus Christ revealed the sinful nature of the Pharisees as well as His disciples. He proclaims the gospel to each and calls us all to walk in repentance and newness of life by His grace. This is God’s plan from the foundation of the earth.
