Morning Sermon Notes
The Coming Kingdom
Luke 17:20-37
Introduction: Jesus clarifies the nature and timing of the Kingdom of God so that we might be encouraged and guarded against deception.
Summary Principle: God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isa 55:8-9).
For the Children: God’s way is perfect, but it might surprise us.
1) When Will the Kingdom Come? (vv. 20-21)
God is building His church now.
- Comfort: We are members and participants in the Kingdom.
- Charge: We must not be idle nor discouraged.
2) How Will the Kingdom Come? (vv. 22-37)
God will deliver everyone of His People.
- Comfort:We may rejoice at God’s timing and methods.
- Charge: We must remain faithful while we wait.
Christocentric Conclusion: Jesus has made it clear that He is building His kingdom according to His perfect wisdom and that this is for our good and His glory. May this knowledge guard our hearts, calm our fears, and embolden our service to Him.
