Fruitful World

Isaiah 27:1-13

Introduction: Isaiah declares that God is working all things for the good of His people and fulfilling His promises (cf. Romans 8:28; Genesis 3:15).

Summary Principle: Judgement leads to salvation, which results in worship.

For the Children: God disciplines us in love so that we will serve Him more faithfully (cf. Hebrews 12:7ff).

1) God’s Hand of Protection (v. 1-6)

We are protected by the hand of God.

  • Comfort: God is a perfect Shepherd (Psalm 23).
  • Charge: Trust in God’s care.

2) God’s Hand of Discipline (v. 7-13)

We are disciplined by the hand of God.

  • Comfort: God is seeking our good (Deuteronomy 10:12-13).
  • Charge: Trust God’s discipline.

Christocentric Conclusion: Jesus Christ has crushed the head of the serpent by enduring the wrath of God for our sins on the Cross. There, He atoned for our sins and reconciled us to God so that we might worship and commune with God in perfect peace.
