Summary Principle: Our union with God in Christ is sure.
For the Children: Christ loves us as His own body.

1) God Defends Zion (vv. 1-8)

God visits us in discipline and defense, out of love.

  • Comfort: God’s love for us is unchanging.
  • Charge: Place your trust in God, who does not change.

2) God Does Wonders for Zion (vv. 9-14)
God accomplishes the impossible for His rebellious people.

  • Comfort: God loved us when we were His enemies (Romans 5:8).
  • Charge: Worship Him in Spirit and Truth (cf. John 4:24).

Christocentric Conclusion: Jesus is building His Church. He loves her, defends her, and will not let her perish (cf. Ephesians 5:22ff).
