Luke 18:31-34
Introduction: Jesus reveals how God makes an impossible salvation possible for man.
Summary Principle: Praise God, for He has accomplished salvation for His people.
For the Children: Praise God for salvation in Christ.
1) God’s Sovereignty in Fulfillment (v. 31)
Because God is in control, He can declare it beforehand.
2) God’s Sovereignty in Resurrection (vv. 32-33)
Because God is in control, He can raise Jesus from the dead.
3) God’s Sovereignty in Hiding Revelation (v. 34)
Because God is in control, He must reveal the truth.
Our Response:
- Comfort:For the sake of His love for the Father and for us, Christ endured the cross (Hebrews 12:1-3). Because His love is certain, our salvation is secure.
- Charge: Recognize your sin as heinous, trust in God’s sovereignty, and rejoice in Christ’s merciful salvation.
Christocentric conclusion: Jesus fulfills prophecy, gives a glimpse of His love and devotion to the Church, and gives us assurance of our salvation in Him.
