Two Outcomes: Part 1 - Judgment
Isaiah 34:1-17
Introduction: Isaiah begins this chapter with a call to draw near and hear God’s Word.
Summary Principle: Those who ignore God’s Word will be condemned.
For the Children: Listen to God’s Word.
1) The LORD is Enraged (vv. 1-4)
God hates the wicked (Psalm 7:11; 11:5f).
2) The Day of Judgment (vv. 5-12)
God has determined judgment for the wicked (Proverbs 16:4).
3) Sin’s Curse upon the Wicked (vv. 13-17)
God justly condemns evil (Psalm 145:17-20).
Comfort: The LORD is near to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:18).
Charge: Repent and bless his holy name forever and ever (Psalm 145:21).
Christocentric Conclusion: Jesus connects for us these continual calls to repentance with His own ministry (Luke 20:9-18). Those who trust in Him will have sure salvation, but those who turn from Him will be crushed.
