Jesus Eats With Zaccheaus
Luke 19:1-10
Introduction: Jesus turns our assumptions about salvation on their head.
Summary Principle: Rejoice, for God loves His sheep no matter how much they wander.
For the Children: Rejoice, for God will not lose even one child.
1) Zacchaeus Seeks Jesus (vv. 1-4)
If we desire salvation, we must seek Jesus.
- Comfort: God will not turn away any who seek Him.
- Charge: Seek the Lord today (Psalm 95:7b-8).
2) Jesus Seeks Zacchaeus (vv. 5-10)
Before we ever sought Jesus, He sought us.
- Comfort: Our salvation is not dependent upon us.
- Charge: Trust in Jesus as the only Savior of the lost.
Christocentric conclusion: Jesus declares that He came to seek and to save the lost (v. 10). What a wonder that God knew of our helpless estate and our corruption, yet He loved us and redeemed us.
